Day 1 Guwahati to Shillong

On arrival at Guwahati airport, our representative will meet and escort you to Shillong, which is just a three-hour drive from Guwahati. En route, you will visit Umian Lake, which was formed after a dam was constructed on Umian River in the early 1960s. The lake and the dam cover an area of 220 square kilometres. Shillong used to be the capital of Assam during the British rule and it stayed the capital until 1972. After that, it became the capital of Meghalaya. It is located at an altitude of 1,491 metres above sea level and is often referred to as the Abode of Clouds.On arrival at Shillong, our representative will facilitate the check-in and you will have an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2 Trip to Cherapunjee

After a delicious breakfast at your hotel, you will be taken to Cherapunjee, which is 60 km from Shillong, approximately two hours drive. It is the capital of Nongkhlaw Hima, the Khasi tribal chieftainship. Locally, it is known as Churra or Sohra. In Cherapunjee, you will visit Dwan Syiem View Point, Noh Kalikai Falls, Mawsai Caves, Seven Sisters Falls and the Eco Park. After that, you will drive back to Shillong, to your hotel.

Day 3 Shillong Sightseeing and Drive to Guwahati

After having a wholesome breakfast at your hotel, you will set off to explore the attractions of Shillong. You will visit Ward’s Lake and Shillong Peak, which is 10 km from the city. The peak is awe-inspiring at it offers a spellbinding view of the countryside and is also the highest point in Meghalaya. You will also get an opportunity to visit Elephant Falls. In the afternoon, the drive back to Guwahati begins. The city is located on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra and is a major riverine port. On arrival and after check-in, you are free to explore Guwahati at leisure.

Day 4 Guwahati Sightseeing

Make sure you have a good breakfast, as you will enjoy a whole day’s sightseeing that covers the most popular temple in Guwahati and Assam - the Kamakhya Temple. It is located at the peak of Nilachal Hill and it is one of the most sacred temples dedicated to Goddess Shakti. You will also visit the State Museum, Balaji Temple and Navagraha Temple, which is located on top of Chitrasal Hill and dedicated to the nine sacred planets. Other attractions that are part of the Guwahati city tour package include Umananda Temple, a Shiva temple at the Peacock Island, and Sankardeva Kalakhetra. The Peacock Island has the distinction of being the smallest inhabited riverine temple in the world. In the evening, you will enjoy a relaxing river cruise from Jahajghat or Mackhowa and back, along the Brahmaputra. This is available on direct payment. You will stay overnight in Guwahati.

Day 5 Departure

After breakfast, you will checkout from the hotel and be transferred to Guwahati airport. Those, who are travelling by train, will be transferred to the railway station.

Extra Notes

Tourism infrastructure is not as well-developed in Guwahati and Shillong as in metropolitan cities. Hence, guests should not expect facilities, luxuries and amenities like those found in metropolitan cities or any other well-developed tourist destination.
Our representative will be holding a placard and we advise you to seek him out. In Guwahati Airport, our representative will be waiting for you at the exit gate. If you are traveling by train, Guwahati railway station has two exit gates. Please come to the main exit gate, which is located near the ticket counters, where our representative will be waiting for you.
Transfer to the airport and railway station is available from 06:00 hours to 17:00 hours. We request to book your onward tickets in accordance to these timings. The road conditions are not safe for night driving and being in the east, it gets dark early. In case your onward journey is booked outside these hours, we recommend changing it to the following day and spending an additional day in Guwahati. This will attract supplement charges and you will be informed about the cost.
